A Walk In The Prairie - August 2008

About 4:00pm I started thinking about taking a walk in the woods. Actually, it would have been more of a battle with the mosquitoes. So, after thinking it over some more I decided to take a ride and look for something that I haven’t shot before. After going just a short distance I came across a nearby prairie next to the woods. While looking it over, I spotted some bright purple wildflowers. I decided to take a walk to get a closer look. After a short walk I was close enough to see they weren’t anything I really wanted to shoot. While scanning over the rest of the area I was suddenly greeted by a pair of Tiger Swallowtails. Their destination was the purple wildflowers. I setup the tripod and started to shoot. They didn’t seem to mind me being there and continued to go from flower to flower. I love to watch butterflies, they're like natures flying flowers. On my way home I came across two young bucks with velvet antlers feeding on the side of the road so I stopped to get a shot. After arriving home I noticed the Coleus next to the door and decided to shoot it. Considering I started out not knowing what I wanted to do, I ended up having a good time and a productive shoot! Like they say…. Sometimes you never can tell.
